Unit enduring idea: The human figure in art serves as a powerful tool for self-expression, cultural storytelling, and social change.

Five essential questions for unit of study: 

1. How can artists use the human figure to express personal identity and emotions?  

2. In what ways does figurative art reflect cultural heritage and community narratives?  

3. How have historical and contemporary artists used the human figure to create social change?  

4. How can modern technology and mixed media enhance the representation of the human figure in art?  

5. What methods can students use to explore their own identities through figurative art?

Goals:

- Students will explore self-expression through figurative drawing. 

- Students will analyze the historical and cultural significance of the human figure in art.  

- Students will create figurative artwork that reflects personal or social narratives.  

- Students will experiment with traditional and digital media to depict the human form.  

- Students will engage in critical discussions on how artists use the figure to challenge societal norms.
